Art can surpass languages, text does not. As most people master English and a lot of wonderfull people I meet do not master Dutch, I use English on this website.

As a student I began drawing with markers, which forced me to solve whatever I started. In those days I created a lot of mazes, and some first paintings.  The drawing paths section shows some of those works.

I love  raw, confronting, essential art that expresses lengthy, complex stories in a single image. Artists like Anselm Kiefer, Francis Bacon, H.R. Giger, Ron Mueck, Robert Zandvliet, Michel Houellebecq.  Art that mirrors deep felt realities, shares glimps of an universal intelligence. I hope one day to touch upon the complexity and completeness of their works.

Up tot 2021 I painted abstract works with materials as alkyd and acrylic paints, often with some figurative element. Before I worked for some two years with clay and glazing, creating creature like objects in the great studio of Zamira in Amsterdam Noord, experimenting with transfers, raku and discovering the beauty of oxide based glazes.  Great to see more and more artists getting recognised with works in ceramics. Prime example is Carolien Smit.

In 2022, inspired by my wonderfull coaches and studio neighbours art duo A+B, I took a full year off to dedicate myself soley to the process of making art and started working with materials of second hand shops, as to add new meaning and not waste to our beloved mother planet. It sparked an interest in the odd reality we propogate to ours children via toys.

End of 2023 I started painting again and the 4 round works are the first that came to light.
